June 22, 2025, sunny. Today I went to the Marui Department Store in Yurakucho to see the Happy Sugar Life 10th Anniversary Museum.
This exhibition was free. To prevent overcrowding, the organizers set up a reservation system for the first day and all Saturdays and Sundays. You could only attend if you made a reservation on the official website.
Speaking of reservations, when they opened up, I happened to be at work. A few minutes later, I glanced at it and found that the 20th and 21st were already fully booked, and only the last two time slots remained for the 22nd 😨. I hurriedly reserved a spot for Sunday.
Although this work has a certain popularity, based on my observations over the years, it shouldn't be this hot. I personally suspect that because it was free and had no barriers, many scalpers made reservations.

As soon as I reached the 8th-floor venue area, I saw a huge promotional screen.
I can't believe it's already been ten years since Happy Sugar Life, and that its popularity after a decade could still support holding an exhibition. I couldn't help but shed tears of emotion.
Because it was a reservation system, we had to line up outside the door before our reserved time.
But even when our time slot arrived, there were very few people in line. It seems my guess was right—most of the slots were booked by scalpers. Since there were purchase limits per person per time slot, the scalpers just reserved a bunch of different slots without thinking, then decided whether to go based on market conditions. How infuriating 😡!
However, because of that, I could enjoy the exhibition at a leisurely pace on the weekend. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

First, messages from the author and voice actors.
First, a message from the author, Tomiyaki Kagisora:
Thank you for celebrating the 10th anniversary of Happy Sugar Life.
It feels so strange to think that it's already been ten years since the serialization began.
Although the serialization itself lasted only about four years,
being able to hold a retrospective memorial exhibition at this 10-year milestone
is truly thanks to all the readers who have supported this work.
I am sincerely grateful to everyone.
I also want to thank all the readers, as well as everyone involved in the production and performance of this work.
The exhibition includes not only illustrations from the serialization,
but also many illustrations that were posted on SNS after the series ended,
so I believe it will be an event where you can experience a large amount of Happy Sugar Life.
I hope you all enjoy it!

Kana Hanazawa (voice of Satou):
Congratulations on the successful holding of the 10th anniversary museum!
It's been seven years since the anime aired,
but the time I spent playing Satou-chan,
completely immersed in the charm of the work,
still feels vivid to me.
Satou-chan, who persistently pursued "love,"
was terrifying, yet pure, and beautiful...
I feel that encountering such a character is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I hope this opportunity allows more people to enjoy Happy Sugar Life!
Misaki Kuno (voice of Shio):
Congratulations on the successful holding of the Happy Sugar Life 10th anniversary museum.
For the Shio I played, the days spent with Satou-chan
are irreplaceable, precious times,
and Satou-chan always remains in her heart.
For me, the memories of this work are equally precious,
and I will continue to treasure them.
Through this work, I experienced the fragility and preciousness of the feeling of "wanting to spend time with someone forever."
This is a work filled with various forms of love,
and I would be very happy if we could all continue to cherish it together.
Surprisingly, photography was allowed in most areas, so I took panoramic photos right away.
There was one area where photography was prohibited, so I could only show it with regular photos.
You can see that the entire exhibition area was arranged with great care.

Detail photos.

First, the area reviewing scenes from the manga.
It was so moving 😭!

My personal favorite scene is actually this one.
It's both moving and filled with sadness.

If you looked at the panoramic photos above, you might have already noticed this pillar.
A highly accurate missing person poster.
And hidden behind both sides of the pillar are Easter eggs drawn by the author.

Here, you can choose your favorite standees to place on the pillars, recreating the happy life Satou and Shio shared in their apartment.
This idea is so good, they should make official merchandise out of it!!

Satou's cosplay costume.

Around last year, the author started frequently posting new illustrations of Happy Sugar Life on Twitter, which already hinted that something was up. I never expected they would be used for the 10th anniversary exhibition!

There's also a little Easter egg here.

Finally, here's the main visual for this event—"Wedding Ceremony."
Satou and Shio can finally be together forever 😭!

The merchandise this time is really thoughtfully made! Everything is so beautiful!

The bonuses are also lovely. The small cards you get with a purchase of 3,000 yen or more feature the new illustrations the author recently posted on Twitter.
The transparent bookmarks are also very pretty.
It's been a while since my last loot post. I held back on buying merchandise from other series just to save up for this event's goods.

First up is a set of 22 instant-camera-style cards. They have a double-layer finish that looks really great.
Although the official site said buying a set doesn't guarantee no duplicates, I actually didn't get any repeats. I'm very grateful!

It's just a pity that some cards have minor flaws. For example, this one has a few creases, and although it might not show well in the photo, the edges weren't finished properly—they're rough and shedding bits.
Considering that the clear files were delayed due to defects, it seems this batch was a bit rushed.

Next is the 10th anniversary booklet.

It's packed with various illustrations, introductions, and... a new short manga!!!? The new short manga was a real surprise! Now we can enjoy more interactions between the two of them!

The main plush dolls from this event are just too cute!!!
The protective cases I ordered are still on the way. I'll put them on once they arrive!

Little candies.
The bottle looks so beautiful. Since the candies won't keep for long, I'm thinking of replacing them with konpeito decorations later.

Postcards, standees, and stickers.
They're all so beautiful!

Finally, the purchase bonuses.
I spent a total of 91,335 yen (about 4,454 RMB), so I got 30 bonus cards.
The transparent bookmark I pulled is Satou! I'm so happy!

By the way, the biggest expenses this time were the 10th anniversary autographed reproduction original art by the author and the music box.
These two items won't be shipped to my home until mid-November. I'll do an unboxing then!

On the last day of the event, I bought an additional set of badges for 7,000 yen.

The bookmark I pulled this time was Shoko. Paired with the Satou I got last time, they make a nice best-friend duo.
98,335 yen—this is the first time I've spent so much on anime merchandise.
Luckily, I had over 20,000 yen worth of points saved up at the department store, which eased the bill quite a bit.
When I used my points, the store clerk asked if I had been saving them up just for this event. Looks like they saw right through me!
But no matter what, as a die-hard fan of this series, it was all worth it!
In the end, Satou and Shio found their own happy life. I hope everyone, and myself included, can find our own Happy Sugar Life!
