April 19, 2026, sunny. Today I went to Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture to see the flowers. This is also the location of the Lost Orange from the game Summer Pockets.
There are roughly two options from Tokyo.
From Tokyo to Hitachi Seaside Park, take the JR Joban Line limited express "Hitachi" or "Tokiwa" from Tokyo Station or Ueno Station, arriving at Katsuta Station in about 70–80 minutes.
After exiting the station, take the bus bound for the seaside park from the east exit (about 15–20 minutes, limited period during nemophila season) to reach the park. The whole trip takes about 1.5–2 hours.
Still take the limited express "Hitachi" or "Tokiwa" to Katsuta Station, but after exiting Katsuta Station, transfer to the Hitachinaka Seaside Railway Minato Line and ride all the way to Ajigaura Station (the terminal, about 25 minutes), then walk about 20–30 minutes to reach Hitachi Seaside Park (free shuttle bus available during nemophila season). The advantage of this route is that you don't have to worry about traffic jams or full buses during peak season. It is relatively more controllable and stable. Also, with a combo ticket, it is slightly cheaper than Option 1.
However, this time I chose Option 1. Although I had to wait for several buses and encountered traffic jams, in the end it only cost me an extra 20 minutes.
Taking the bus enters from the West Gate, so you will see rape blossoms first.

Across from the rape blossoms is the nemophila area.
The nemophila area is truly spectacular.

Close-ups of various nemophila.
Gently swaying nemophila.
Also, although this is not a pilgrimage site for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End,
the vast sea of nemophila resembles the blue moon grass fields in the anime,
so it has attracted many Frieren cosplayers to take photos here.

There is a tree in the nemophila area.
This is the location of the Lost Orange from the game Summer Pockets.
The scene covered in nemophila looks just like the flowers in the game.
Could the nemophila be the inspiration for the butterflies in the game?
A panoramic shot.

After all these years, the tree has grown.

There is also a tulip area in the park.

I never knew there were so many varieties of tulips.
This is the first time I've seen such a diverse sea of tulips!
The nemophila are truly beautiful and left a deep impression on me.
The park is very large. If you want to explore it fully, it takes about 3 to 5 hours. If you only want to see the nemophila, about 2 hours is enough.
However, although the park is large, it feels somewhat empty overall. Many areas are not fully developed, and you might even get lost. It is recommended to pay attention to the park map during your visit.
