On October 14, 2024, a sunny day, the second day of my Izu trip. This morning, I planned to visit three places in Shimoda City: Madogahama Kaiyu Park, Tsumekizaki, and Ryugu Sea Cave.
If you haven't read the previous post yet, I recommend checking it out first: A Day Full of Trials — Anime Pilgrimage to Laid-Back Camp's Izu Kogen Mount Omuro and Izu Shaboten Zoo.
Two weeks before departure, after browsing through many public transportation timetables in Izu, I found that most buses run only once every 1 to 3 hours. So I concluded: to enjoy Izu to the fullest, you need a car!
In the end, I used a bit of financial power to charter a car for the second day to visit areas that are simply impossible to cover by public transport alone.

The breakfast at the hotel where we stayed was freshly baked bread, soft and sweet.
Thinking about how none of the meals yesterday were good, I couldn't help but shed tears of joy 😂.
I couldn't find an official Chinese name for this park. How to translate "Madogahama"? Literally, it might mean "window beach"? I hope someone knowledgeable can explain.

Scenery along the way to the park. Even before arriving, it already looked beautiful.

Before entering the park, I saw a signboard with Nadeshiko and Rin placed by the nearby Shimoda City Tourism Association, so I decided to go in and look around.

Arrived at Madogahama Kaiyu Park.

A scene from the anime, incredibly faithful!

There is also a free foot bath in the park.
But when I went, it was already full of people 😅.

"Wow! The Black Ship is coming!"
Just as I arrived, I saw the Black Ship Sightseeing Boat passing by Misago Island. It was truly a two-in-one scene from the anime.
If you have time, taking the Black Ship Sightseeing Boat to tour the whole area would be a great choice!
After visiting Madogahama Kaiyu Park, I met up with the chartered car driver and headed to Tsumekizaki.

As soon as I arrived at Tsumekizaki, I was stunned by the beautiful scenery.

I couldn't wait to enter the walking path and head to the lighthouse ahead.

The walking path was quite wild; it felt like no one had passed by in a long time. In one area, it was covered with spiderwebs with huge spiders on them. I had to crawl forward with difficulty 😅.

But the scenery was truly beautiful!

There was also a heart-shaped object along the way.

The lighthouse is just ahead!

Reached the lighthouse!

The wind at the lighthouse was so strong, not to mention holding the phone steady, I almost flew away 😅.

Reality is even more spectacular than the anime!

I see, it really does look like bamboo. Nature is truly amazing!

If you go to this area in winter, there will be wild daffodils.

The seawater at Tsumekizaki is very clear, and the sight of waves crashing against the rocks is spectacular.
But there is one very regrettable thing...

There is also a lot of trash carried by the ocean currents. Some places are even like garbage dumps, which really spoils the scenery.
So, protect the environment, starting with not littering!
After visiting Tsumekizaki for about an hour, we headed to the last stop of the morning—Ryugu Sea Cave.

After about a 20-minute drive to Ryugu Sea Cave, we first went down to see the scenery inside the cave.

The scenery inside Ryugu Sea Cave is absolutely stunning!

After exploring the cave, we walked up to the opening that we had seen from below.
Doesn't this shape look like a heart❤?
The top-left corner of the photo is where we were looking up from earlier.
After about 2.5 hours of sightseeing, we had fully taken in the natural beauty of Madogahama Kaiyu Park, Tsumekizaki, and Ryugu Sea Cave. Next, the afternoon itinerary will head to Nishi-Izu, and more exciting content will be shared in the next blog post.
